Design Information
Matthew Carter originally designed Verdana for Microsoft specifically for the screen. Its clarity and versatility — and hinting from Tom Rickner — have withstood the medium’s limitations. More than 20 years later, now Verdana Pro, it is *still* among the most legible, usable fonts on the Web. David Berlow has since expanded the family with help from David Jonathan Ross, adding three new weights, a Condensed width of five weights, and small caps in Roman and Italic, totaling 20 styles. Verdana Pro includes a character set that supports all languages using Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek alphabets. This makes Carter & Cone’s Verdana Pro an intriguingly adaptable, modern sans fit for print and mobile use.
