Design Information
The three largest sizes of type made by the Caslon foundry are uncommon, unlike the famously consistent text faces cut by William Caslon. Perhaps they were the work of other hands — or the master was in a bold mood. While Caslon’s text types have often been revived, the forceful and a touch eccentric display sizes had no digital revival until Carter & Cone’s Big Caslon. This version, designed by Matthew Carter, expands on the timeless nature of the vigorous display typeface and allows for many varied new uses. Available in Regular, Bold, and Black and companion italics.
