Design Information
Typefaces come, and typefaces go, but since 1997, The Washington Post’s headlines have been distinguished by the iconic Stilson, their straightforward variation on Bodoni, designed by Matthew Carter. When Roger Black redesigned The Post in 2009, Richard Lipton, Jill Pichotta, and Dyana Weissman expanded upon the refinement with Display & Condensed styles intended for larger display usage. Carter & Cone’s Stilson, once affectionately referred to as Postoni, is equal parts concise and elegant, making it a newsworthy choice for any modern typographic needs. Stilson, Stilson Display, and Stilson Display Condensed are available in Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic.
